NATO Licensed Products
NATO is committed to the peaceful resolution of disputes. If diplomatic efforts fail, it has the military capacity needed to undertake crisis-management operations. These are carried out under Article 5 of the Washington Treaty – NATO’s founding treaty – or under a UN mandate, alone or in cooperation with other countries and international organizations.
NATO maintains a strategic supply of weapons and support collateral. All items are maintained in “ready to use” status and are constant stand by for rapid deployment among NATO Members as needed. Inventory is constantly rotated by disposition of aged items for replacement of new items. Furthermore, selected NATO manufacturing facilities are permitted to sell their products for sale to the open market, which encourages these operations to maintain constant ability to deliver their products in times of need. Such sales are regulated by stringent rules and regulations.
